“Accordingly, two cities have been formed by two loves: the earthly by the love of self, even to the contempt of God; the heavenly by the love of God, even to the contempt of self. The former, in a word, glories in itself, the latter in the Lord.”
-Augustine, City of God.
Providing Resources for Christians as they negotiate residing in the City of Man while being citizens of the City of God
Unlikely Pilgrims is a site where historians Dr. Dan Spanjer and Dr. Mark Draper provide a space for Christians to wrestle with the challenges of living Christianly in a world that is becoming ever more complex. As society is polarizing we desire to carve out a space for winsome dialogue. As historians we seek to help our brothers and sisters in Christ learn from the cloud of witnesses throughout 2000 years of Church History to discover tools for living faithful lives.
It is our goal to provide interviews, podcasts, blogs, vlogs, articles and reading lists that Christians can use to discern how to live in the 21st century. We will address subjects that range from the Arts, politics, justice, technology and history. It is our hope that Christians can engage all the cultures they encounter knowing, in the words of Abraham Kuyper, that every square inch of this world belongs to Jesus.
